DERICKSON K'S MESSAGE
November 9th, 2016
LET'S WORK TOGETHER
The outcome of this election is different from any of us expected, both in our nation and my district.
I congratulate the incumbent on his win.
And, I thank my incredible team, loyal supporters and friends for their hard work.
In the face of the State of New York’s tsunami of “Vote Row A All the Way”, and a quirky ballot position, we came up way short. But we planted a flag in 2016 with our message: a message that focused on an uneven economy; the need for workforce development; a healthcare system on life support; a rail system that threatens commuter safety; social issues like mass incarceration that have destroyed a generation of lives; and the need to protect our environment.
Those issues are not going away, because America is not okay. But it is not okay to give up on America. And this is just a hunch: the next six to 18 months will be incredibly challenging for our nation and our local communities.
Politics aside, after spending the much-needed time with my family and friends, I vow to continue my efforts in bringing our diverse communities together to discuss the issues of our day, seek the way forward, and help write the next chapter of our future together.
I hope I can gain your continued support in this quest.
